Matamata Primary School is located in the heart of the Waikato, a town overlooked by the Kaimai Ranges and surrounded by rivers that flow through rolling green hills. Here we have created a nurturing environment that enables our children to learn and prosper across all aspects of education and development. Our guiding principles centre on our motto ‘Endeavour, Achieve Excel – Tohenga, Taea, Tino Hira. Together with support of our community and engagement of whanau, we deliver a platform that inspires learning to help build and shape our future generations.
We would love to invite students in Years 5–8 to come along and give hard ball cricket a go this season.
We’re especially keen to welcome new players to help fill our teams and experience the fun of playing cricket in a supportive environment.
Training details:
First training: Wednesday 4 February
Time: 4:30pm – 5:30pm (first session only)
Ongoing trainings: Every Wednesday at 5:30pm
Location: Matamata College nets
Cricket runs during Terms 1 and 4, and no previous hard ball experience is required — just a willingness to give it a go and have some fun while learning new skills.
Welcome to the second half of the 2025/26 Tennis season. We will be kicking things off on Wednesday 4th February. This term we have 8 weeks of coaching with a couple of Sunday afternoon club days in March.
We ask that all players (new or returning) fill out this form and complete payment by Monday 2nd February. This will provide a clear picture of the numbers, allowing us to ensure we have the correct number of coaches in place.
Any questions, please do get in touch via Matamata Tennis Club Facebook page.
Please note that our road patrollers will be safely crossing children on both Broadway Crossing and Kea Crossing on Hohaia Street between 8.25am - 8.45am and 2.55pm - 3.05pm on school days. We remind you to use the public car parks on Hohaia Street, NOT the church carpark when dropping off and collecting your children.
If you are able to offer assistance to help with a road patrol duty before or after school, please contact Mary Muckle: mmuckle@mmps.school.nz
If your child is a road patroller, we will begin with the same roster as the end of last year. This will begin on Tuesday February 3rd in the afternoon. Staff will cover the Tuesday morning crossing. Please note the slightly earlier start time on Hohaia Street in the mornings. Your child will need to be at school by 8.15am if they are on one of these duties. If you need another copy of the roster, email Mrs Muckle and she will forward one to you.
