ENROLMENT SCHEME

Matamata Primary School has an enrolment scheme, otherwise known as a 'school zone' which is managed by the Ministry of Education. Any student who lives in the school zone may enrol at any time. Students who live outside of the school zone are not guaranteed enrolment. The Board of Trustees determines the number of places available for the enrolment of students who live outside of the school zone. The school will publish an indication of the places available and how applications are to be made (including a date by which applications must be received ) for students wishing to enrol at Matamata Primary School who live outside of the zone.

The school will conduct a ballot (if required) where the number of applications for out of zone places is more than the available places in accordance with the following order of priority:

First Priority - this priority is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a special programme approved by the Secretary for Education.
Second Priority – will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
Third Priority – will be given to students who are siblings of former students.
Fourth Priority – will be given to students who are children of former students.
Fifth Priority – will be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
Sixth Priority – all other applicants fall within this category.

All students who live within the school zone described below (and shown above on the attached map) shall be entitled to enrol at the school.

The boundary begins at 7543 State Highway 27 (addresses numbered 7567a and above are not in the zone). Follow the railway line north and include all roads east of the railway line. The boundary extends north following the railway line (including Waharoa Road East but not Waharoa Street West addresses, or addresses/roads west of the railway line (Peria Road, Ratcliffe Street, George Street, Gladstone Road, and Tetley Street are not in zone).

Follow the railway north to the SH27 intersection and follow SH27 to the intersection at Link Road. Turn left into Link Road (includes all of Link Road).

Turn left into Landsdowne Road (includes all addresses up to 71 Landsdowne Road). From the intersection of Landsdowne Road, Factory Road and Link Road, follow Factory Road to number 58. At number 58 Factory Road follow a direct line east to the intersection of State Highway 27 and Mowbray Road.

Follow Mowbray Road to the intersection of Mowbray Road and Mills Street.

From the intersection of Mowbray Road and Mills Street follow a direct line to the southern end of Troughton Road (zone does not include any addresses on Troughton Road). From the end of Troughton Road follow a direct line to the intersection of Tower Road and Harding Road.

The enrolment zone includes Harding Road. From the end of Harding Road, follow a line to the intersection of Old Te Aroha Road and Goodwin Road (zone includes Goodwin Road).

Travel south along Old Te Aroha Road to No 694 Old Te Aroha Road (includes Gravesons Road, Tills Road, Te Tuhi Road and Douglas Road).

Follow a direct line from No 694 Te Aroha Road to No 464 Tauranga Road (Tauranga Road addresses 464 and below are not included in zone). From No 464 Tauranga Road, the zone goes west towards the intersection of Tauranga Road, Taihoa North Road, and Taihoa South Road. Follow Taihoa South Road until 366 Taihoa South Road (even numbered Taihoa South Road addresses are not included in zone).

From 366 Taihoa South Road, follow the boundary west to the starting point of the home zone at 7543 State Highway 27.

Note: Both sides of all streets and roads included in the above description are included unless otherwise stated.

Proof of residence within the home zone will be required.
